SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane firefighters are asking for the public’s help tracking down a person suspected of lighting at least two fires on the South Hill this month.
In a press release, Spokane Fire Department spokesperson Justin de Ruyter shared two videos in which the suspect can be seen starting fires.
The first fire happened in the early morning hours of July 4. Security video shows a suspect appear to set a pile of wooden pallets on fire.
The second fire happened on July 11, also early in the morning. Video shows what the fire department believes is the same suspect from the first video accompanied by two others setting fire to a stack of crush cardboard.
In addition to the pair of fires caught on video, investigators believe this suspect may be connected to other recent grass and brush fires, although de Ruyter didn’t specify why they may be related.
Fire investigators can be reached at 509-625-7120. De Ruyter said security photos and video are often key to solving arson cases. Such evidence has been used to track down suspects in other recent cases,
