SANDPOINT, Idaho — Court documents have revealed more information about the night a fire reportedly destroyed the Army Surplus in Sandpoint.

According to documents from the Bonner County Clerk’s Office, security cameras captured a woman around 9 p.m. on July 4. The woman, later identified as 50-year-old Jennifer Meyer, was dressed in all black with a hoodie and carrying a white bag. Court documents state she was observed walking from her residence and later seen in the alley between the Army Surplus store and 506 Church Street.

Around 10 p.m., security footage showed a small glow escalating into a large flame along the store’s south wall. Meyer was then seen leaving the store’s parking lot, still carrying the white bag. Selkirk Fire and EMS reported the blaze starting , ultimately consuming the Army surplus store, which had operated for over 40 years.

Sandpoint police interviewed Meyer on July 16, questioning her about her activities that day. When confronted with video evidence, which contradicted her claims of visiting the post office, Oak Street, and Fourth Avenue, she remained uncooperative. Police noted inconsistencies between her account and the surveillance footage from that night. Meyer did not deny involvement in starting the fire but refused to provide further details.

Following the interview, Meyer ceased communication with the police. .
