How to avoid exposure to smoke

SPOKANE, Wash. — Air quality in Spokane and surrounding areas is becoming unhealthier as wildfires continue to burn throughout the Inland Northwest.

The particles in wildfire smoke stay suspended in the air and can cause minor to serious health issues. According to the State Department of Health, everyone should avoid inhaling the smoke. People at risk should be cautious and avoid prolonged exposure to the polluted air.

The Department of Health suggests keeping windows and doors closed, limiting time outside, and changing the air filters in your car. For more information on the air quality near you,
