SPOKANE, Wash. — Two suspects were arrested following a drive-by shooting near the Perry District.

On Sunday, Aug. 4, around 4 p.m., Spokane Police responded to a call in the 1400 block of East 7th Avenue where they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to the hospital; her condition is unknown.

The investigation revealed that two suspects, one armed, had left the scene in a dark-colored car. A bullet hole in a nearby home was identified as the entry point for the shot that injured the woman. The residence had children inside, and another neighboring home and a car also sustained gunfire damage. Shell casings were found, and the suspect’s car was identified.

Later, an officer linked the shooting to a DUI arrest made that morning. The DUI suspect was found passed out in a car with a stolen, empty handgun. Further investigation confirmed he was connected to the shooting. Patrol officers subsequently arrested the second suspect at an apartment on South Richard Allen Court.

Jonathan Tokwia, 35, faces multiple charges including first-degree assault, drive-by shooting, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Jacob K. Milne, 18, faces similar charges along with a count of fourth-degree assault. Both are convicted felons. Tokwia’s bond is set at $750,000 and Milne’s at $500,000.
