SPOKANE, Wash. – A man found sleeping in a downtown Spokane apartment lobby with meth, fentanyl, a gun and cash has been sentenced to over five years in prison.

According to court documents, Alexander Kosnicki, 46, was found by a security guard of an apartment complex on Nov. 22, 2022, sleeping in the lobby.

Security guards searched Kosnicki and found a small amount of meth, fentanyl, and a gun in his jacket, prompting them to call Spokane police.

Kosnicki was not permitted to carry a gun due to prior federal convictions.

When officers arrived, they searched Kosnicki and found $1,147 in cash in his right sock and located two large bags of fentanyl pills in his left sock.

Kosnicki was arrested and later convicted in Feb. on one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

“Fentanyl and firearms are a lethal combination, and I am gratified that the DEA and our partners could hold Mr. Kosnicki accountable for his behavior,” David Reames said. “Our community is safer because of this sentence.”
