SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department arrested a young woman for stabbing a man in downtown Spokane on Sunday.

Lavender Port, 21, stabbed the man after a fight in an alleyway near the Brown Street Viaduct around 11:30 p.m.

Officers and medics found the man and transported him to the hospital with serious injuries.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Port was with another man when the victim approached them. The three had previously shared an apartment and knew each other.

During the altercation, the other man punched the victim in the face. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, the victim handed over his backpack to Port and the man.

Port then allegedly pulled a knife from the backpack and stabbed the victim, prompting him to run and seek help.

Officers were unable to locate Port until the following day. She was arrested on Monday and now faces charges of first-degree assault.

The condition of the victim is currently unknown.
