SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Maxwell Avenue and Boone Avenue starting Thursday morning and continuing through Friday due to a grind and overlay project.

According to the City of Spokane, drivers heading south on Washington Street in this area will experience slowdowns and will be detoured at North River Drive because of bridge repairs and construction. Those using the detour from Division Street on North River Drive and traveling north on Washington Street will also face increased delays. Flaggers will manage traffic at the intersection of Boone Avenue and Washington Street. Drivers not requiring access to this area are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Division Street and Monroe Street.

The City said in addition, starting Monday, Aug. 26, northbound lanes on Market Street between Mission Avenue and Wellesley Avenue will be closed, while southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Rockwell Avenue and Mission Avenue.

This detour will remain in place until Sept. 6. Northbound traffic on Greene Street will be detoured at Mission Avenue, west to Perry Street, north to Illinois Avenue, east to Crestline Street, north to Wellesley Avenue, and then east back to Market Street. Southbound Market Street traffic will be reduced to one lane between Rockwell Avenue and Mission Avenue.
