ELK, Wash. – A fatal car accident occurred this afternoon on East Nelson Road in Elk, Spokane County Fire District 4 confirmed.
The accident which was reported at around 2 p.m. at the intersection of East Nelson Road and North Jackson Road.
According to a spokesperson from Spokane County Fire District 4, the driver missed a turn and crashed into a tree. Emergency medical and fire units responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the site.
An air ambulance was initially dispatched but was canceled after the person was declared dead.
No additional details about the victim or the circumstances of the accident have been released at this time.
