The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a new four-year $120 million contract extension with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, the NFL Network reported on Thursday.
Aiyuk had been in a long-running contract saga with the team, lasting almost six months, and in late July had requested a trade away from the team just before training camp began.
The 26-year-old has reported to training and attended meetings, but had not taken part in practice, citing a back injury.
On Wednesday, the ‘Niners declared Aiyuk healthy and coach Kyle Shanahan said they expected him to join in practice, raising the possibility of fines if he still refused to take part.
But that conflict was put to bed by the deal, with just over a week to the start of the season, which the NFL Network said included $76 million in guarantees.
Last year, Aiyuk posted a career-high 1,342 receiving yards along with 75 receptions and seven touchdowns. It was his second straight 1,000-yard season.
Aiyuk was a key component of the 49ers team last season, which reached the Super Bowl but lost in overtime to the Kanas City Chiefs.
