MEAD, Wash. – Spokane Fire District 4 responded to a crash that started a brush fire north of Green Bluff.

The car crashed along North Madison Road around 10:30 a.m. near a remote hillside.

SFD4 said the car caught nearby brush on fire but were able to contain the flames in a 30X100 area. Car fuel made the attack on the fire more difficult.

The Department of Natural Resources also responded and is working to put out hotspots but say they benefited from cooler weather conditions on Monday.

An investigation into the crash is underway and SFD4 says a medical examiner is on the way.

NonStop Local has a crew on scene working to get more information.
