Family of 15-year-old who died after crash near Green Bluff releases statement

MEAD, Wash. — The family of the 15-year-old who died on Monday has released a statement regarding the crash.

The teen, later identified as Elijah Mendoza, died in a He overcorrected while driving south of North Madison Road, north of Green Bluff and struck a tree. This caused the truck to leave the road and catch on fire. Mendoza was pronounced dead on the scene.

Mendoza’s mother spoke to NonStop Local and issued a statement:

“Elijah Mendoza was a fearless, adventurous young man who enjoyed dirt biking, snowboarding and backpacking. He was deeply loved and cherished by his family, church, Pathfinder Club and everyone who knew him. He had a radiant smile and an endearing charm, with an energy that was almost palpable. Despite his playful and mischievous side, he was also hardworking, helpful, and conscientious. The world will be an emptier place without him.”
