Chewelah School District cancels school for threat

CHEWELAH, Wash. – The Chewelah School District will be closing their schools for the day after receiving a threat.

The threat was directed to the Jenkins Junior and Senior High School.

The superintendent stating that kids on school buses were returned home for the day.

He also stated that law enforcement tipped off the school about the threat early Tuesday morning and they acted quickly to keep students safe.

The Principal of the Jenkins High School said that a few kids made it to school and were safely taken home.

A statement from law enforcement and the school is expected to be released once more information is confirmed.

The school is expected to reopen tomorrow and counselors will be available for students if needed.
