Teen bicyclist injured in car crash near Post Falls High School

POST FALLS, Idaho — A teenager riding a bicycle was struck by a car while en route to Post Falls High School, sustaining minor injuries.

The Post Falls Police Department reported that the accident occurred on Tuesday at around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Cecil Road and Poleline Avenue. An SUV exiting the traffic circle collided with the 15-year-old bicyclist.

The teen was taken to Kootenai Health with minor injuries and has since been released. The SUV driver received a citation according to police.

Police said that the student’s family has requested that the driver, though at fault, not be subjected to speculation or ridicule, highlighting that the incident was also traumatic for the driver.

Post Falls police reminded the public to remain vigilant around bicyclists and pedestrians, particularly in school zones.
