Lincoln County deputy on leave after patrol car accidentally hits suspect during arrest

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. — A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy has been placed on administrative leave after an unattended patrol car inadvertently struck a suspect during their arrest.

According to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Coulee and Coulee Dam Police were pursuing a vehicle driven by an individual suspected of driving under the influence after it failed to stop. The pursuit continued into Lincoln County, with the driver traveling at high speeds on State Route 174. The car eventually lost control and crashed into an embankment, as reported by deputies.

During the arrest, an unattended patrol car accidentally struck one of the suspects. Both suspects were taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment according to deputies.

According to the press release, the Washington State Patrol was called to investigate the incident. Following a review of the case, the LCSO deputy involved was placed on administrative leave on Monday.

Lincoln County deputies have stated that further details will be released once the investigation is complete.
