SPOKANE, Wash. — Starting Thursday morning, Sept. 26, part of Cheney-Spokane Road will reopen to drivers.

The City of Spokane said in a press release that progress on the Marshall Road Transmission Water Line Project has made this possible, allowing the reopening of Cheney-Spokane Road between Qualchan Drive and the retail area in the south 4300 block.

The section of South Cheney Spokane Road between Qualchan Drive and South Cedar Road is expected to reopen by mid-to-late October. Residents in the West Qualchan Drive and Eagle Ridge neighborhoods are encouraged to use the reopened route to help ease congestion at the South Meadow Lane Road and Highway 195 intersection during busy traffic times.

Here’s what you need to know:

– Cheney-Spokane Road will be open from the retail area to Qualchan Drive.

– Cheney-Spokane Road will remain closed between Qualchan Drive and South Cedar Road.

– Speed reductions will still be in effect on US 195 between Hatch Road and Qualchan Drive.

– Friday, Sept. 27, will mark the final day of traffic control with flaggers at the US 195 and Meadow Lane Road intersection.

All businesses remain open and accessible from the Cheney-Spokane Road interchange.
