According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), 28-year-old Alyssa Bray pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. The incident occurred on April 9, when witnesses reported a truck driving erratically in the area. Police later discovered a deceased man on West Sunset Frontage Road and Grove Road but were initially unable to locate the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
Following an investigation, SPD determined that Bray had been walking on Sunset Highway and accepted a ride from the man. Investigators believe that Bray then took control of the vehicle and intentionally struck him, resulting in his death. She was arrested later that evening in Lincoln County after a brief vehicle pursuit.
Police reported that Bray was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison.
