SPOKANE, Wash, – Tonight the Spokane Public Schools (SPS) Board of Directors will meet to interview candidates to fill the school board vacancy.
Of the nine who applied, only five will be interviewed.
According to SPS, those five are Nicole Bishop, Kate Telis, Brianna Hawkins, Luke Tolley and Glenn Andrews.
The earliest applied on August 19th, just five days after the spot opened up. That’s when Dr. Meli9ssa Bedford, former director of the SPS board announced her resignation.
Shortly after, the board made it clear they are “committed to appointing a new member who strongly represents the diverse demographic and geographic communities within the district…” from the district website: School Board Vacancy | Spokane Public Schools (spokaneschools.org)
Tonight’s meeting will be from 4-7. It will be hybrid, and open for the public to watch only on zoom.
