GREENACRES, Wash. – Duncan Produce’s barn, which is over 100 years old, was vandalized over the weekend with graffiti.
“I was just shocked that someone would do that. My maintenance guy was so upset when he came Monday morning that he repainted it right away,” Casey Duncan, the owner of Duncan Produce, said.
Duncan lives on the property and woke up Sunday to find the graffiti on the barn’s door.
The markings appear to read “WSP” or “WSV” on the first door. Then, “STUDS” or “STUS” on the second door.
Stop Spokane Gangs is a website operated by the Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force.
It lists “WSP” as a local gang, with the acronym standing for “West Side Players.”
However, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) told NonStop Local they do not necessarily believe this is gang-related tagging, since it is rare for such graffiti to only be in black paint.
Duncan heard from friends and neighbors that the Idaho Central Credit Union’s (ICCU) Liberty Lake branch was also vandalized with graffiti in a similar manner.
A spokesperson for ICCU confirmed their branch was vandalized with graffiti, that it was reported and that the paint was cleaned up.
NonStop Local inquired about what the graffiti might have said, but the spokesperson was unable to provide more information.
In the meantime, Duncan is left wondering who came to the property and why they targeted his barn.
“It’s kind of a shame they’d have to hit this barn,” Duncan said.
Duncan did not file a police report and does not plan to do so at this time.
