SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane City Council is set to review a new proposal on Monday night that would prevent tenants from being evicted or facing rent increases if their landlord is not properly registered with the city.

According to the Spokesman-Review, the proposal aims to increase the number of licensed and registered landlords operating under current city laws. While unregistered landlords can face fines, the city seeks to create stronger incentives for compliance with city codes.

The proposal highlights ongoing efforts to improve housing stability and ensure that landlords adhere to local regulations. Further discussions are expected during the council meeting on Monday.
