Spokane man receives 15 years for smuggling fentanyl to Montana and Idaho

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for smuggling fentanyl to Idaho.

According to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, Joshua Allen Berg was arrested in February 2023 after an overdose death in St. Regis, Montana was linked to him.

Shoshone County Sheriff’s Deputies in Idaho found Berg after a high-speed chase with Berg. He crashed his vehicle into a snowbank, ran and was arrested by the deputies.

There was over a pound of meth and fentanyl in his car when he was arrested, and he had a gun on his person when he was arrested.

Berg will serve four years of monitored release after his 15 years in federal prison.
