LEWISTON, Idaho — Casting for Recovery is raising money to help women with Stage IV breast cancer through their Corks for A Cause.
Casting for Recovery (CfR) is a national nonprofit organization that offers free fly-fishing retreats to women with breast cancer. The nonprofit invited the community for their upcoming fundraiser, Cork for A Cause, on Oct. 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lindsay Creek Vineyard.
The event will have live music, games, auctions, fly fishing, and tying demonstrations. Funds raised by Corks for A Cause will help provide women with breast cancer with a healing retreat. Employees will auction off items such as decorated pumpkins, fly-fishing equipment, a guided white water rafting trip and a trip to The Last Resort on the Tucannon River. Attendees can purchase alcoholic beverages and the vineyard’s signature “Creek Bites.”
“We’re thrilled to host this event and bring the community together in support of such an important cause,” said Peg Kingery, event co-organizer. “Casting for Recovery’s retreats provide women with breast cancer the opportunity to heal and connect through nature, and we are honored to help continue this mission.”
CfR holds retreats where women learn how to fly-fish as a form of physical therapy with education, peer support and the healing abilities of nature to help them get through their breast cancer journey. According to CfR’s website, they offer 60 retreats across the country and serve over 800 women each year. They offer retreat programs exclusively for women with Stage IV (metastatic) breast cancer in Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Nebraska and Texas.
