The 2024 Spokane Tribal Grazing Season to end early November

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Tribal Grazing Season will end in early November as cold temperatures approach.

According to the Spokane Tribal Police, the Spokane Tribal Range Program, which is responsible for managing the reservation’s rangelands, recommended closing the 2024 Spokane Tribal Grazing Season on Nov. 3, 2024.

This decision was made because of the upcoming extensive nighttime freezing temperatures, which will reduce available foraging on the range and increase the risk of soil erosion.

According to the Spokane Tribal Police, the Department of Natural Resources approved the recommended closing date.
