WENATCHEE, Wash. — Updated Oct. 15, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. – All evacuation levels have been dropped to Level 1 for the Squilchuck Road Fire as crews continue to try to contain the fire.
According to the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team, the fire is now 216 acres and remains at 30% containment. A helicopter was used on Monday and Tuesday, as well as on-the-ground crews.
Currently, there are no closed roads, and those living in the Wenatchee Heights area can return home. Those living on the 3200 block of Squilchuck Road are also under Level 1 evacuation orders.
According to the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team, no structures have been damaged by the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Updated Oct. 14, 2024, at 8:15 a.m.- Level 3 evacuations for the Squilchuck Road Fire are still in place and roads have been reopened near the fire.
According to the Chelan County Emergency Management, Level 3 evacuations for those living in the Wenatchee Heights area are still in place. Level 2 evacuations have been lowered to Level 1 evacuations. According to Chelan County Emergency Management, they have also reopened the road at Squilchuck and Methow Street.
Fire crews will re-evaluate fire conditions as the day goes on.
Updated at 10:33 p.m.- Level 2 and Level 3 evacuations remain in place for the Squilchuck Road Fire that is 30% contained.
According to Chelan County Emergency Management, Squilchuck Road at Methow Street is closed. Those who work, live or have business that travels on that road, you will be able to get through. No structures have been lost to the fire and no injuries have been reported.
Fire crews are remaining on the scene throughout the night and with re-evaluate the fire in the morning around 8 a.m. on Oct. 14.
Updated at 3:08 p.m.-Level 3 evacuation orders are in place for a 25-acre fire that is threatening houses.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the Squilchuck Fire started around 2:17 p.m. on Sunday and caused Level 3 evacuations to quickly go into effect as it quickly consumed sage, brush and timber, threatening homes and businesses in the area. WSP does not know the cause of this fire.
Multiple crews from the Fire Protection Bureau including a strike team, two dozers and air resources are assisting the State Fire Marshal’s Office personnel. There is no estimated time on when residents will be able to return home.
Updated at 3:50 p.m.- Level 3 “Go Now!” evacuations have been ordered for those living on Squilchuck Road.
People living in the area of the west end of Connery Road to the north end of Jim Smith need to leave their homes immediately. The evacuation orders follow the current conditions of an ongoing wildfire.
There is no estimated time on when evacuation levels will go down.
-Originally written Oct. 13, 2024, at 3:08 p.m.- Level 2 Evacuations have been issued for those living on Squilchuck Road in Wenatchee Sunday afternoon.
According to Chelan County Emergency Management, those living on the 32000 block of Squilchuck Road are now under Level 2 evacuation orders. This means to “Get Ready,” and prepare to leave in case conditions get worse. The evacuations were announced on Chelan County Emergency Management’s Facebook page and there is no estimated time on how long the evacuation order will last.
