SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A man was arrested after allegedly trying to steal items from Westside Motor Sports.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, the business manager of Westside Motor Sports, located at 4201 South Grove Road, contacted authorities after seeing an unknown man on security footage inside the fenced property. Deputies arrived and detained the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Allen York Jr., without incident.
After his arrest, York admitted to being inside the fenced area and attempting to take brackets and other items. A check of his name revealed two valid misdemeanor warrants for fourth-degree assault.
During a search, deputies found burglary tools and a lock pick set in York’s pockets, as well as a black container containing baggies with a white substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The business manager informed deputies that Westside Motor Sports had previously experienced break-ins and expressed a desire to pursue charges.
Deputies said that York was taken to the Spokane County Jail, where he was booked for second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, third-degree theft, and possession of a controlled substance, in addition to his misdemeanor warrants.
York later appeared in Spokane County Superior Court, where a judge ordered his release on his own recognizance.
