SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A suspect was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that occurred Wednesday in Spokane Valley.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported hit-and-run injury crash at the intersection of East Appleway and North Corbin Road around 2:30 p.m. Witnesses who saw the crash followed the fleeing suspect to South Steen Road, near the Appleway Trail.

When deputies arrived, they detained the suspect, later identified as Tyler Adams, 28. While speaking with him, deputies noted that Adams appeared very emotional, saying, “I am sorry. This is all my fault.” Deputies said they saw that his bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of intoxicants.

Witnesses reported that the victim, an adult male driver, had stopped at a red light while traveling east on Sprague Avenue, which turns into Appleway Avenue at North Corbin Road. When the light turned green, he proceeded into the intersection. Adams, driving a silver Cadillac westbound on Sprague at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for the red light and crashed into the passenger side of the victim’s Chevrolet Suburban, causing it to flip onto its side. Adams then fled west on Sprague and turned south on Steen, where witnesses followed him.

Deputies reported that the victim sustained what appeared to be minor injuries and received medical attention. Adams had injuries to his forehead and complained of pain. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Suspected of impairment, deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample from Adams, which will be tested later. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony hit-and-run with injury and DUI, according to the sheriff’s office.
