SPOKANE, Wash. – A UPS plane had to be diverted back to the Spokane airport after only 48 minutes in the air due to a fire in the cargo hold.
The Spokane Fire Department is responding to the Spokane International Airport as the plane has now landed safely.
SFD says the fire started in the cargo hold section of the plane and no injuries are reported.
The cargo plane was headed for Louisville around 6:45 a.m. when it had to be diverted back to Spokane due to the fire. The plane nearly reached Missoula before it turned around.
