The efforts include being more transparent with consumers in explaining what they do, having reporters look out for the spread of false stories and debunk them when they can. The quick spread of false stories that infected the political world following Hurricane Helene this fall provided a sober warning for news executives. It’s uncharted territory for journalists on one of their biggest nights.
