REARDAN, Wash. — A high school debate team from Reardan High School placed fourth in a national competition at the FFA 97th National Convention and Expo.
The competition was held from Oct. 23 to Oct. 26 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where Reardan High School senior students Bryson Flaa, Amelia Ray and Aidan Chilson reached the final four rounds of the debate competition. The students competed in the Agriculture Issues Forum with 39 other state champions.
“These young men and woman had an incredible run. This week was the culmination of more than 13 months of work to this end. I knew we had something special with these students early. Not only because they’re outstanding kids, but also because of the topic,” said Reardan High School educator and FFA program advisor Rick Perleberg.
The outcome of the FFA National Agriculture Issues Forum was Missouri (1st Place), Tennessee (2nd Place), Idaho (3rd Place) and Washington (4th Place).
According to the high school, over 700,000 students from across the nation took part in the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo.
