VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Washington Secretary of State released a statement on the ballots that were found on fire after an ‘incendiary device’ was placed in elections drop box.

While the investigation is ongoing, officials believe that several ballots were damaged.

According to FOX-12 in Portland the fire was set at the C-TRAN Park & Ride at Fisher’s Landing Transit Center.

Despite the incident, the Clark County Auditor’s Office is committed to ensuring that affected voters will receive replacement ballots in time to participate in the 2024 general election.

“We take the safety of our election workers seriously and will not tolerate threats or acts of violence that seek to undermine the democratic process,” said Secretary of State Steve Hobbs.

Voters can check the status of their ballot and see if they have been affected by visiting the Washington voters’ website here.
