POST FALLS, Idaho – The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Tuesday morning for the cities of Spokane and Post Falls for the potential failure of the Post Falls Dam.
According to NWS, the flash flood watch is in effect through late Tuesday night due to flash flooding causing potential dam failure in Kootenai County in eastern Washington.
“Dam failure may result in flash flooding of low-lying areas below the dam,” the weather service said.
Avista says that no visible damage to the structure of the Post Falls Dam has been registered by the company, and that further details will be offered to the public.
