Hunter kills charging grizzly bear in self-defense along Idaho-Montana border

IDAHO – A hunter says he shot and killed a grizzly bear in self-defense along the Idaho-Montana border. According to Idaho Fish and Game, this incident occurred as the hunter was searching for elk north of Kilgore.

The hunter stated that the bear charged him. Following an investigation, Fish and Game confirmed that the hunter acted in self-defense.

In light of this event, authorities are advising those heading out into the woods to hunt to take precautions. Hunters are encouraged to carry pepper spray, hunt in pairs when possible, and quickly secure any game. It’s also advised to hang the game at least 20 yards from camp.
