ELK, Wash. – A family of 5 is without a home on Thursday after a fire destroyed it while they were gone.
The double-wide trailer fire broke out around 9 a.m. on Thursday near 38000 North Madison Road prompting a large response.
Spokane County Fire District 4 said the family of 5 was not home at the time of the fire but family pets, 2 dogs and 3 cats were.
No injuries were sustained by firefighters or family members, but SCFD said the family pets were ‘likely lost in the fire’.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
Spokane Red Cross is assisting the family members in relocating.
