Spokane prepares for large voter turnout, offers extra voting sites

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Elections Office is expecting a large turnout of in person voters as Nov. 5 approaches. The Elections Office is preparing for the influx but are advising voters the best places to cast their votes in the Spokane area.

Spokane’s main elections office in downtown Spokane has very limited space and parking making an influx difficult on both voters and elections office workers.

Residents in Spokane are advised to vote early and use one of the two additional voting centers as the election draws near.

“Parking and lobby space in the Elections Office is insufficient to handle the crush on Monday and Tuesday. We expect up to 2,000 people downtown and 1,000 people in the Valley. For anyone who has been at the Elections Office, you understand that it simply cannot accommodate that volume” the elections office says.

Voters are being asked to use these voting centers before trying the Main Elections Office.

EWU Catalyst Building – Room 309, 601 E RiversideCenterPlace Regional Event Center – 2426 N Discovery Place

The EWU Catalyst Building will be open on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The CenterPlace Regional Event Center will be open Saturday through Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

These voting centers offer ample space and are better suited for the expected influx of voters.

Drop boxes will stay open 24 hours a day until Election Day. On election day the drop boxes will close at 8 p.m. and anyone in line will have their ballots counted.

Voters who need a ballot replacement cannot receive one by mail and must print out a replacement ballot online here.

In person voting is encouraged for residents who need extra assistance, residents who need to register, and to cure signature challenges.
