SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police arrested a burglar suspect who attempted to steal tires from a parked truck.
According to a press release from the Spokane Police Department (SPD), officers responded to a report of a possible burglary on Thursday at around 7 a.m. An employee of a business in the Sprague Avenue area reported seeing someone removing tires from a white truck parked in the lot.
Video footage showed the suspect, later identified as Brandon Machala, 39, trying to enter the truck, according to police. When police arrived and approached the vehicle, Machala, who was hiding nearby, attempted to flee but was quickly detained in the parking lot according to police.
Police said they found the missing tires behind the business and discovered that Machala had entered the lot through a cut fence.
Machala was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for second-degree burglary. He also has an extensive criminal history, including prior felony convictions for retail theft.
