COLFAX, Wash. – A high-speed motorcycle chase through Colfax ended in a crash on Saturday afternoon.
Deputies from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office said they attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle on SR-26 as it entered Colfax.
The motorcyclist, identified as 32-year-old Derek Adams from Richland, WA, was initially chased by a wildlife agent who was also unsuccessful in stopping him.
Adams continued through Colfax and headed east on SR-272, reaching speeds over 100 mph for more than eight miles.
The chase ended when Adams crashed into a field after failing to navigate a turn. He sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody before being transported to the hospital for observation.
Authorities discovered that Adams had multiple active felony warrants. These included charges for Escape from Community Custody, Assault 2nd Degree, and Motor Vehicle Theft.
The motorcycle he was riding had been reported stolen from the Tri-Cities area a few months earlier.
Adams is scheduled for his first court appearance on Monday in Whitman County Superior Court.
