Republicans hope to retain 3 open Indiana House seats and target another long held by Democrats

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Indiana voters have three open congressional seats to fill in the election Tuesday. Republicans hope to keep them while aiming to knock off a Democrat in the northwest part of the state. Three incumbents are retiring or seeking another office. They’re currently all held by Republicans in right-leaning districts. The GOP is also targeting Democratic U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan, who is seeking his third term in the 1st District. Republicans hope a new map that took effect in 2022 has made the district more conservative. Mrvan won in 2022 with nearly 53% of the vote after taking just under 57% in 2020.
