Democrat U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes, of Connecticut, has won a fourth term, defeating former Republican state Sen. George Logan in a rematch. Republicans had hoped to flip the blue state’s 5th Congressional District and end the Democrats’ control of the delegation. Logan portrayed himself as an independent thinker who would not be beholden to the national GOP. Hayes’ victory came after a race in which she argued that Logan could not be trusted to protect abortion rights or to buck his own party.
