SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A sawmill company based in Hamilton, Montana, is facing accusations of safety and health violations at its plant in Spokane Valley.
Inspectors from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industry reported that the floor and equipment at the plant were covered in sawdust. Additionally, they found several space heaters plugged in and sitting on top of the sawdust.
The inspectors also noted that the company failed to protect workers from dangerous machine parts, including chains and saw blades.
The company’s attorney stated that they are appealing the accusations.
