EDMONDS, Wash. – An 82-year-old woman in Edmonds is facing hate crime charges after punching two women who appeared to be supporting Trump. Police say the woman’s actions were reportedly motivated by the race and political beliefs of the victims.

Court documents reveal that on Monday, the woman approached the group, which was waving flags, and allegedly targeted “brown women” within the group.

The woman reportedly questioned why people of color would support Trump and became animated during the confrontation. She even attempted to push an officer while demonstrating her actions, according to Edmonds police.

According to Fox 13 the woman said to the group of supporters something to the effect of ‘do you know what will happen to people like you if Trump is elected?’

One of the victims reported that the suspect pushed her and then punched her in the chin. The suspect is also accused of punching another woman.

Authorities have classified the incident as a hate crime and arrested the woman. Police say that the woman showed no remorse for the incident and the potential to continue her behavior toward others

The woman has since been released after spending some time in Snohomish County Jail.
