WA Fish and Wildlife investigating illegal elk and deer killings

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is asking for public assistance in identifying two cases of illegal deer and elk killings.

According to Fish and Wildlife, two dead elk were found with gunshot wounds in the Addy area Saturday. It is not elk hunting season and the meat from both of the animals was left to waste, which is also a violation of state law.

Three whitetail deer were also found dead with gunshot wounds in Newport alongside a surviving deer that needed to be euthanized. It is not doe season in the Newport region, and there are limits on how many whitetails can be harvested at one time.

Anyone with information on the deer and elk killings can call (877) 933-9847 or email reportpoaching@dfw.wa.gov. You can also report anonymously by texting 847411.
