Inmate who died in Spokane County Jail cell identified, investigation underway

SPOKANE, Wash. — The inmate who died in his cell at Spokane County Jail has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, the man was identified as Bryce Larson, 36.

, when Larson died while in custody. Jail staff found him on the floor at 3:31 p.m. Medical aid arrived at 3:42 p.m., and Larson was pronounced dead at 4 p.m.

According to the county, Larson had just returned from court at 2 p.m., two hours before he was pronounced dead.

A county spokesperson said the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and the county medical examiner are investigating the cause and manner of death. The sheriff’s office spokesperson said there were no indications of trauma.

Court documents show that Larson had been arrested previously on five felony harassment charges. He also allegedly threatened to kill a corrections officer by sniping him at his home on Aug. 1.
