SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle is taking steps to enhance safety and cleanliness in its downtown area with the launch of a new program similar to a recent pilot in Spokane.
Mayor Bruce Harrell announced the establishment of the Downtown Activation Team on Friday.
The team, formed through an executive order by Mayor Harrell, includes members from over a dozen city departments, social service providers, and community partners like the Downtown Seattle Association.
The Downtown Activation Team will focus on addressing criminal activity and improving the environment. Their responsibilities include street and sidewalk cleaning, garbage pickup, and graffiti removal.
This initiative follows a similar 30-day downtown safety pilot program in October.
