LAKE ROOSEVELT, Wash. — The Lake Roosevelt National Park Service has warned that land remains unstable and will continue to shift following a landslide in the Columbia River near Kettle Falls on Sunday.
According to the park service, the area around the landslide is still experiencing movement, and instability will persist for the near future. Debris is expected to continue washing downstream for several days, and officials urge people in the vicinity to exercise caution.
The landslide occurred on the west side of Lake Roosevelt, across from Colville Flats. Water from a displacement wave washed over Highway 25 just south of Colville Flats, reaching the base of the hill. The park service reported no damage to park facilities.
