SPOKANE, Wash. – Judge Rebecca Pennell has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as a U.S. District Court Judge for Eastern Washington.
This confirmation fills a vacancy that has existed since September 2022. Pennell, who was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee, will take the oath soon.
Before her appointment to the bench, Pennell worked for the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho from 2000 to 2016. She was elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020 to the U.S. Appeals Court in Spokane.
Pennell’s confirmation marks a significant step in addressing the judicial vacancy in Eastern Washington.
