56-year-old dies after crash on Highway 41 in Post Falls

POST FALLS, Idaho — Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving two cars on Highway 41 in Post Falls.

According to a press release from the Idaho State Patrol (ISP), the crash occurred on Tuesday at around 6:30 p.m. when a 75-year-old man, traveling north on Highway 41, failed to stop at a red light at the Highway 41 and West Prairie Avenue intersection. A 56-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene, traveling west on West Prairie Avenue, was struck by the other car.

ISP said the 75-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while the 56-year-old man was also taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Traffic at the intersection of Highway 41 and West Prairie Avenue was closed for one hour and partially blocked for nearly two hours, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
