MOSCOW, Idaho – A Lewiston man died Monday morning after crashing into a truck and driving off an embankment on U.S. Highway 95, south of Moscow.
According to Idaho State Police (ISP), the crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 95 near Eid Road. A 40-year-old Lewiston man was driving north when he encountered stopped traffic due to construction. ISP said the driver swerved, striking the side of a truck, then drove off the right shoulder and down an embankment.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The truck driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured, ISP said.
The highway was closed for about three hours while authorities investigated the crash. ISP also confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
