WASHINGTON – A stage one burn ban will soon be issued for parts of eastern and central Washington.
The Washington State Department of Ecology announced the ban will begin Friday at 5 p.m. It prohibits outdoor burning, agricultural burning, and the use of uncertified wood stoves, except when the wood stove is the only source of heat.
The ban will affect Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas, Klickitat, Okanogan, Ferry, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Asotin, Columbia and Garfield counties.
The Department of Ecology said the ban is being implemented due to stagnant air conditions, which are expected to trap particulate pollution near the surface.
