SPOKANE, Wash. – The Bloomsday Road Runners Club is hosting its annual Turkey Trot at Manito Park, offering runners a chance to get active before Thanksgiving festivities.

The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. by the duck pond and features a 2-mile, 3-mile, and 5-mile route, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Jackie Van Allen, one of the event coordinators, highlighted the community’s generosity over the years.

“From 97 to now, you’ve raised over $100,000 to this race,” she said, reflecting on the event’s impact. “It’s just a great community event and people come with their families. It’s like a parade for people to celebrate Thanksgiving,” she added.

All proceeds from the Turkey Trot go to Second Harvest, a vital organization in the Inland Northwest. Last year, the event saw donations of around 7,000 pounds of food.

Participants are encouraged to bring donations, as there is no registration fee. The event embodies the spirit of community and giving.

The Turkey Trot is a cherished tradition, bringing people together to celebrate and support those in need. For more information on Second Harvest, visit their website.
