SPOKANE, Wash. – Downtown Spokane is bustling with shoppers on Black Friday, all eager to snag the best deals.
The National Retail Federation anticipates another record year for holiday sales this winter season, though they expect the growth rate to be the lowest since 2018.
In recent years, Black Friday deals have increasingly moved online, changing the shopping experience from long lines to a more relaxed atmosphere.
Pascal Cafferty, a Black Friday shopper, shared his thoughts on the shift. “Well I was very excited my first two years in the US to wake up at 4 a.m. It was just about the experience moreso, like the craziness of Black Friday and I think now it’s a lot more subdued,” he said.
To manage the influx of downtown shoppers, the Spokane Police Department has increased foot patrols near River Park Square.
