MICA FLATS, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the two brothers who died in a house fire on Nov. 24.
Wyatt Weller, 27, and Garrett Weller, 26 were identified as the victims in the fire that burned down their house just nine miles south of Coeur d’Alene.
Mica Kidd Fire Chief, Robert Matue who responded on the day of the fire expressed the profound impact this tragedy has had on the community and stated he knew the Weller brothers personally.
“And what makes it so tough for my community up here – we’re a very small tight-knit community, so the family that was involved was one of the original family members up in this area,” said Matue.
Chief Matue also said he believes this incident marks the first fatal house fire within the Mica Kidd Fire District.
KCSO says that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and additional details will be provided as they become available.
